Carol Kana is a life long resident of Greenwich, Connecticut who resides with her cat. She had polio at the age of 21 months old, prior to the polio vaccine, but she has never let this stop her from being active.

Carol is a retired Probation Officer who worked with the Connecticut Court system for more than 30 years.

Currently, she is an Officer at Large for the Polio Outreach of Connecticut and despite her muscle weakness due to Post Polio Syndrome, she has continued to fight for changes to make the state more compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act. She is also the head of the Disability Advocacy Collaboratives, South West Network. As such, she has organized training and empowered others to make the area more accessible for the disabled.

Carol's father was a WWII Veteran who instilled in her patriotic ideals and caring for our veterans. When Carol heard about Give2TheTroops®, she realized the importance of being involved. Initially, her involvement was limited as the first packing parties occurred in Andi Grant's basement of which she could not access due to her physical problems. But now that the building is wheelchair-friendly, it is easy for her and others to be involved.

Carol is active in her church and has organized several collections at the church, including an annual giving tree at Christmas where each ornament has an item listed that has been requested by one of our troops.

In addition to Give2TheTroops, and her other volunteer efforts, Carol is also an active member of the Tully Health and Fitness Center where she can be seen in the pool classes four or five days a week. Once again, she has spread the word about Give2TheTroops to her friends at Tully. The Tully Center now has a permanent collection box for items for the troops, and Carol makes weekly announcements of special items requested by our troops.
